WOULD you like bugs with that?
That’s the mouth-watering option available to visitors at next weekend’s Stringybark Festival, with a special stall explaining how to cook with critters.
Freelance chef Lillie Giang will be teaching people how to cook a few simple, Asian-inspired dishes with insects.
Sang choy bugs, crispy tempura critters, pad thai bugs and lemon ant muffins are a few of the treats planned.
Ms Giang aims to show the audience that bugs can easily be disguised in food in a way that tastes good and looks familiar.
Ms Giang said they sourced their bugs — including ants, crickets and mealworms — from a global seller of certified organic produce and they were of the highest quality, farmed specifically for eating.
